Menton is the last city of the French Riviera before the Italian border. It is easy to reach by plane, train, bus and car. The city centre of Menton is relatively small and safe. No need for a car, normally your accommodation will be within walking distance.
By train
The journey by train from Nice and Marseille is a scenic ride along the coast. From the Nice Saint Augustin station (airport) or Nice Main Station (gare Thiers) there is a train every 15 minutes for Menton Main Station. Take a train that goes either to Menton or to Vintimille (Vintimiglia). The journey is around 35 minutes.
For our colleagues travelling from Italy, take a train from Ventimiglia (Vintimille) to France. Menton Main Station is the second stop. The train departs Vintimiglia every 30 minutes. Note that since 2025 there is a daily train from Roma Termini to Marseille with a stop in Menton.
The Palais de l’Europe is within walking distance (5 min.) from the station.
Tickets can be bought through the SNCF app or web site (www.sncf.fr).
By plane
The nearest airport is Nice Côte d’Azur. It is the second in France (after Paris) and is well connect by direct flights to many domestic, European, and intercontinental destinations.
From the airport you can take a train at Nice Saint Augustin (see above, 40 minutes), or a direct bus to Menton (about 1h30). Take a 10-minute dedicated pedestrian walk to the station or take the tramway free between the airport and the station (5 minutes, tram stops at both T1 and T2). Have a look at the airport dedicated page.
