AnaEE Environmental Rising Star Award
1. About the Award
The AnaEE Environmental Rising Star Award recognizes outstanding early-career researchers contributing to functional and experimental ecology. This prestigious award celebrates innovative research that aligns with AnaEE's mission to advance our understanding of ecosystem responses to environmental change.
2. Eligibility
- Postdoctoral researchers within 4 years of PhD completion (as of October 1, 2026)
- Research must focus on functional and experimental ecology, excluding purely observational studies
- Work should demonstrate relevance to AnaEE-ERICS's infrastructure and scientific mission
3. How to Apply
Applicants must submit:
- Extended abstract detailing research context, quality, originality, and significance
- Dedicated section explaining alignment with functional and experimental ecology and relevance to AnaEE
- Curriculum vitae
- List of publications

4. Application Timeline
- Registration opens: January 11, 2026
- Deadline for submissions: June 14, 2026
- Winner announcement: 2 months before the conference (public announcement during the event)
5. Award Benefits
1.1.1. Grand Prize Winner
- Featured presentation slot in a dedicated session at the conference
- Certificate of achievement
- Funded research visit to an AnaEE facility in another member country (up to one week)
- Travel and accommodation budget up to €1,500
- Opportunity to present research at the host facility
- Applicants may indicate preferred country or facility
- Conference travel allowance of €500
- Media recognition through AnaEE press releases and social media channels

- Best Poster Award – Certificate of recognition (announced on final conference day)
- Best Oral Communication Award – Certificate of recognition (announced on final conference day)
- Participation certificate for all competition applicants
6. Scientific Scope
Research submissions should encompass themes relevant to AnaEE's mission, including but not limited to:
- Ecosystem responses to environmental change
- Climate change impacts on ecosystems
- Experimental approaches to ecological questions
- Functional ecology and ecosystem services
- Biodiversity and ecosystem functioning
Note: Purely observational studies are not eligible. All submissions must demonstrate an experimental or functional ecology component.
